Much of the industry in Jasper County is located in the Bay Springs Industrial Parks. Bay Springs maintains a rural and friendly atmosphere, while offering all the amenities of larger cities.

There is available access to four state highways (15,18, 528,and 531) and Interstate 59 freight traffic and commerce flows steadily through the community. Freight is handled by Watco Rail Transportation Services, Norfolk Southern Railroad, and five major truck lines.

City of Bay Springs Airport

THIGPEN FIELD

Bay Springs has a 3000-foot utility airport, Bay Springs Municipal Airport (Thigpen Field) south of town which handles air freight and passenger service to the area. Jackson International Airport is located 51 miles away. Key Field in Meridian is 20 miles northeast of Bay Springs.

The City maintains a list of hangers available for rent and collects the rental fees and fuel payment for the Bay Springs Municipal Airport (Thigpen Field).

Bay Springs is a great place to enjoy being outdoors in a mild climate most of the year. Some major businesses and industries have chosen to settle here. The Jasper County Economic Development District serves as a voice for the city and county’s economic development needs.

Through collaboration with other local, state and national entities, JCEDD (Jasper County Economic Development District) is a liaison for industry interested in moving to our area.

Along with the staff at Mid- Mississippi Development District, we (JCEDD) offer information and help in securing incentives and other needs that business and industry require. We serve the county community and industries who are seeking a convenient and profitable location. We seek to improve our economy and quality of life through the development of resources.

Mid Mississippi Development District, which represents a six-county area in Central Mississippi, and JCEDD are the region’s premier business leadership organizations. The District, with its full-time developer and staff, assist local officials and organizations with industrial recruitment efforts and act as liason to state and federal agencies. Their mission is to attract, retain and grow businesses, industries, and jobs in Bay Springs and all areas of Jasper County.

We are ready to help companies participate in the growth of the county through a variety of different programs. Among other incentives to new business and industry, Jasper County has its own incentive program called Revolving Loan Fund. A pool of monetary resources have been set aside to provide loans to help companies become established in Jasper County.
