Senior Activity Center grand opening in BaySprings, MS

The Seniors Activity Center opening was held on August 5, 2014. A large group was in attendance to celebrate this valuable asset for Bay Springs. Our seniors are vital to the community. They are wisdom keepers. We are happy to have an excellent facility for their social enjoyment and a source for nutritious meals.
The beautiful building was built by the City of Bay Springs. Mayor J.E. Smith is a building contractor, and city employees are extremely talented and creative. The Mayor, Thomas Boyd and city workers did a beautiful job on this building. Furnishings, fixtures, and many other features of the building were purchased economically at Surplus Property and the center was built for significantly less than all
proposed estimates. The brick used on the building was saved from a downtown brick street that was taken up and paved years ago. You are all invited to stop by and see the new addition to the City of Bay Springs. Lynn Ainsworth is the administrator of the program for Seniors. It is funded by East Central Planning and Development. Open to all over 60 yrs, just come in and signup for the program. Games are available, and a nutritious lunch is served. This program funded by East Central also delivers three meals a day to shut ins.
